Michael & I would like to thank everyone who take the time to visit our website. We pride
ourselves on our originality for being a distinctive website.

We strive for the best possible birds that we can raise. We do what we do here for our love of
these amazing animals, not for a love of money. We do our best to stay in touch, and encourage
new owners to stay in touch with us so that we may assist them with any questions that they
may have.

Can you believe that we area already into the latter half of 2008????? Where the heck does time go these days? I've been telling myself for months ... our
hahns will breed our hahns will breed lol. Now with the onset of summer and temperatures hovering around the 90 degree mark here in the Central Valley
I'm finally telling myself that we have missed the season for the Hahns Macaws. We may have some going to nest later in the Fall once summer is done and
the days of 110 degree temperatures have left the San Jaoquin Valley behind. This year has been an odd year for the birds. We've had our ever reliable
Hahns Macaws & White Bellied Caiques not breed this year. Actually I lied, I checked this morning and saw that Murphy who was the very first hahns
macaw we raised here has laid her first egg. Here's hoping it's fertile, if not that's fine. I'm happy she's comfortable enough to want to lay eggs. We do have
Military Macaw eggs due to hatch this week sometime. We did have Festive Bodini Amazons on eggs however with the huge variations in the
temperatures we've been experiencing lately we did lose several eggs including the Bodini's. The temps jumped from a comfortable 78 up to 102 over the
space of a week and then dropped just as suddently.  Strange times indeed lol.

We do have White Front Amazons due to lay any day now. She may even have and egg at the moment. I try to limit my time around the Amazons flights.
They're rather mean birds and as most were handfed, they have zero fear of people and will actively launch themselves at the cage wire in an attempt to get
to us. That being said I do love Amazons and their fiesty nature. How can you not?

I should also mention just how proud I am of my Blue & Gold Macaw Rico. I may or my not have mentioned in previous writing's that Rico had started
plucking himself about 2 1/2 years ago. Michael & I couldn't figure out why until one day it dawned on us. We had purchased a pair of Blue & Golds and
once they had been in quarantine for 5 weeks we bought them to our house.  The male passed away only a few days after coming here. A necropsy was
performed and it was dertermined that a bad diet over the course of the last 10 years had finally taken it's toll on him. I left the female by Rico's cage and
the two of them started to bond. Not wanting Rico to go into a breeding situation I moved the female outside and bought her a new male. Well Rico was
not impressed and as a result started chewing & plucking his feathers in the upper left area of his chest.Over time he moved on to the rest of his chest to he
was pretty much with just down feathers on his chest. We finally went back to when we noticed he started acting out with us and we pinpointed it to when
we moved the female outside. By this time we had traded a young pair of African Greys for a Pair of Military Macaws , a Blue & Gold Female & a
Scarlet Macaw Male. As much as Michael & I like hybrid macaws we don't breed or raise them here at Bird Heaven Aviaries, so we put the Blue & Gold
female with Rico and the Scarlet really bonded to me so I've got myself really cool Scarlet Macaw as a pet now. I'm happy to say Rico's chest is now
90% feathered again and he has new feathers growing in all the time. I'll be adding new photo's over the coming days. This weekends a busy one for us.

Oh and one more thing. I don't know why I'm gonna type this but I figured some of you that read this site will most likely get a laugh at my expense. let me
take you back to last Sunday at the Fresno Bird Mart. Michael & I had set up and had our Hahns Macaws out. Now in the Cage I had broken up some
leaves of Swiss Chard. For those that are not familar with Swiss Chard the stem is a rich red and the leaves are a dark green
I had placed them both feeder dishes for the two young birds on one side and for the older one on the left side of the divided cage. The two younger hahns
were clammering around all over the cage and had managed to pull up a leaf of swiss chard and bunched it up in a smaller piece and had pushed it partly
through the wire so that it was held in place so they could eat it.  I glanced briefly at the cage and noticed a red and green thing all twisted through the cage.
I panicked. Without taking a second to take a second look, I turned to michael telling him to get the birds out of here and into the car. For some stupid
reason I had thought that one of the young hahns had got it's wing caught in the cage and ripped it off. Now why I didn't stop and think... hold on... there is
no blood, no screaming and both birds had both wings intact and were eating the chard... but instead I panic and start freaking out thinking they had ripped
a wing off. It finally dawned on me and I burst out laughing as did Michael who thought it was the funniest thing.... So there you go... that was my exreme
blonde moment at the bird mart.

Hope you're all well.

Happy Birding

Can you believe it? I've finally updated the site ha ha! Been promising for some time now that I'll get it done and finally did it.
Some of the pages that are linked may or may not have information on it. If it doesn't don't worry. Just means I haven't gotten
to that page yet but will very soon. We have cut back on several of our Breeder birds too. I gave most of them an ultimatum
earlier this year breed or be sold. I'm kidding. A Lot of the pairs here that were bonded or just not doing anything we sold. As
well as some single birds that we have. We do still have some left over and will be selling those guys at the Fresno Bird Mart on
Sunday November 2nd. We also are no longer breeding African Ringnecks. We made the decision a few months ago to no longer
breed these guys.  I love working with the Ringnecks as they were the first large bird that we bred here at Bird Heaven Aviaries.
Selling some of the pairs the pairs that we had has enabled us to focus more on the birds that we have, in particular the Mini
Macaws, African Greys & Festive Bodini Amazons.
